There's a ~6" area of binding replaced and one small (less than 1cm) area of purfling missing. It's in pretty good shape there are a couple of clean top cracks that I need to have a luthier look at, at least one repaired side crack, and there is evidence that it once sported a tailpiece (three screw holes by the endpin). It looks similar to guitars online purported to be built by Lyon & Healy (especially to bridge shape, rosette/purfling, and overall shape/construction). There's some info about the Elias Howe Company here, and I found a link to an Elias Howe Academy mandolin with the same label as this guitar, but most of the info/photos I found are of Howe Orne cylinder top guitars, which seem pretty different from this one. ACADEMY BOSTON" and an interior label visible from the soundhole identifying it as "Elias Howe Co. It's a parlor guitar (12.75" across the lower bout, 24.5" scale), with no markings other than a stamp on the back of the headstock reading "E.H.C.O. I took a flier and made an impulse purchase on Reverb recently and am hoping that y'all can help me understand what I have.
